    Default EST help needed

I am having the EST warning light come on every morning on my way to work.
I have changed the spark plugs and leads.
I have cleaned the corrosion off the dizzy points.
The light continues to come on.

Has any one had a similar issue?
Any advice on where to go from here?

I don't know much about the EST system, but am keen to learn.

solution is to remove the EST system and replace it with a electronic distributor as in the VH

eventually you will get a warning light and nothing else when part of the system fails

the EST is complete crap, and your car will run better with the electronic dizzy

the EST system is nearly undiagnosable and is very, very poorly implemented

This seems to be the only advice I am getting from anyone.
Now I need to know where the EST bits can be found on my car and how to install the dizzy from a blue motor.

I am running dual fuel, so that might be an issue for dizzy fittment and tuning.
LPG, a blessing and a curse. Saves me so much $$$ but I have no idea about how it integrates into my car.

Basically the est unit is located on the passenger door kicker panel (where your feet are). I had mine blow up one night when we were doing laps and my mate was driving and did a burnout (i was drunk in the back seat). In reality you don't need to touch anything besides removing the dizzy and putting in an electronic blue dizzy (efi vk's have the same one) and wiring it up and retuning the car. Takes all of about 10 minutes. I have no idea how it would effect gas but i'd say it would have no effect at all. Be careful when get another make sure its tight and the black box looks in good condition i got mine for $20 out of a wreck

$20?? wow, I rang Pick n Payless in Sydney, they said $150 for one that's just been tested, not reconditioned, just tested! I'm lookin for one in Sydney this weekend at different wreckers, I'll post the price if I get a really good deal, but I doubt I'll get it for 20 bucks man.

the est light means you electric cicuit in the dizzy has failed and the dizzy with not give any timing advance sort of limp mode for the dizzy Electric-Spark-Timing is what it stands for new dizzy and the light will go off

I have fitted an elctronic dizzy and removed the EST.

From the sounds of things, the old dizzy was cactus, but the EST unit should still be ok. I have posted the EST unit for sale for any interested. Located in SA. Not looking for much either.
