Hey every1, im just putting some air horns onto my commo. Its being a bit of a bitch. the air horn motor only uses pos and neg. ( it seems to work with neg as earth also). I used the wires running into the ORIGIONAL HORN relay. pos to pos, and neg to the switch, because its a 3 pin relay and this was the only way to set it up without the the air horns going off constantly. OK, so im expecting this to be a piece of cake. I press the horn button, and the origional horn no longer functions (although the wires were connected to the same places) and only ONE of the 2 air horns decides to work. Its as if the horn motor isnt getting the voltage it needs to send the air into both horns. This is backed up by the fact that only the small horn works. Later i secured the air horns and the air horn motor to the OPPOSITE side of the engine bay to the battery. (this was the only spot i could find). Finding, after i had run 2 wires around to the opposite side of the engine bay from the origional horn relay, that i still had the same problem of the proper horn not working at all, and the air horns not working to full BLAST. So i tried the pos and neg/earth wires off the air horn motor directly on the battery again, and now STILL only one air horn works. I figure the wires i ran around are too long, and might need a relay installed somewhere along them, am i right or wrong? MAN THIS IS A PAIN IN THE ASS, pos - neg, how hard could it be.... sorry about the long post every1.
PS. My aim was to have the air horns and the origional horn all work off the horn button on the sterring wheel. Am i causing myself problems or what? lol.

You should have posted this in the electrical/wiring section, i'm sure many people on here have done this before and will be able to help you.
Personally i think it would be better if you had them hooked up to a switch (not the horn button) so that you don't run into trouble with the police.
yeah will be the go anyway, to effign hard anyway, soming not right with it, and yeah i should of, sorry about that. well theres always tomoz. cheers

i'm trying to remember how i did it in my old vh. i think i spliced into the wire that goes to the horn itself, and ran that through the firewall, through a switch, then back out the firewall to the horn motor. negative went somewhere, maybe back to the horns negative?
when the switch was off, the normal horn worked by itslef, flick the switch and the airhorn went off. never had a problem except for one trumpet dying.
the next airhorn i get will be a real truck one with a compressor in the boot.
ECOTEC KICKED IN yO!!!!!!
so you tried it directly on the battery and only one worked still?
