Commodore VK,what you guys can tell me abt it?

Hey thinking to buy myself Commodore VK. What you say. what good what bad? Thanx

Depends what you want to know really. A mate has one, a calais actually. It's a good car, drives nice, and has pleanty of power. It loves to spin the wheels if you put your foot down to much though!!

I'm sure they have they're common faults (what holden doesn't!!), but I'm not sure what they are.

But, if i were to buy one, the first thing i'd make sure is that it was an EFI one.

I used to have one and I'd prefer it to my VN except for the extra power I have now. Just make sure you check all the usuall areas for rust (that's why I had to give mine up). They are one of the nicest old commodores tho.

Damn reliable car IMO... I owned a VK SL 5L 4spd... tough as nails... I only ever recall that car letting me down once in the 4 years I owned it... and that was a flat battery...cause it was stuffed.

The most common problem with those models... is the analogue dash... the odometer grub screw starts to slip with age making the car display an inacurate low mileage... mine packed in around 110,000... it had 80,000 when I bought it...

But nowadays... the problem is none of them were made to run on unleaded... so I reccommend the VL... it came out when all cars were being made for unleaded... they have a heaps better motor if you are buying a six !
