Hey just bought a car today from a guy at work. A VH '82 with 202 and a 5 speed for $650 with 5 months reg and rwc.
Just couple of questions;
The gearbox code is mc6 but its not cause its a 5speed is there a way to tell what it is?
The speedo seems to be out do you think its cause of the 5speed anyway i can fix it myself maybe?
The f*vking fuel gauge is giving me the shits its all over the place and i have no idea how much petty is in it any way to sort that ?

The MC6 was a 4 speed version of the M76, if the MC6 failed they probably replaced it with an M76, as for the speedo gear check out my site for a speedo gear chart which will tell you what speedo gear you will need.

There is the odd chance you could have a Celica 5 speed or a supra box in it but most likely it will be the borgwarner

As for the fuel guage a few posibilities, you could have a bad earth on your fuel tank so try adding an earth wire to your sender unit and see if it helps. Also the float could have a hole in it or not floating correctly also causing problems, or your guage could need recalibrating.

Thanks vkberlina i think it's the m76 as the reverse gear configuration is the same. i'm having a little understanding the speedo chart though if the gear ratio 308:1 and its the m76 then is it the brown gear i need? i'm asuming this is the plastic that goes into the gearbox right?
The fuel pump gonna take some time to figure out. can you get the float out without removing the tank ?
