VK starter problems urgent!!

i have a 84 VK carby black motor and she wont start i have recently pulled all the wiring off the motor to repaint the engine bay and i notice that there are 3 terminals on the starter but i only have the fat power cable and a little purple one going into the harness what is the third one and what does it plug into?? does anyone have a wiring diagram

The third connection is nothing. The starter motor solenoid connector sometimes has an extra spade terminal. Make sure you connected the smaller wire (solenoid wire) to the terminal on the solenoid cap that is actually connected to the solenoid. Maybe try plugging the spade into the other terminal on the solenoid cap?
