Default 3.8 into VK - easy swap?

hey ive heard that if you unbolt everything out of a VN and leave it all attatched to the engine (struts engine mounts etc) that you can lift the front of a vk over it and it will all bolt up perfectly, but you need to make a new little bracket for the crossmember i think.
Anyone know if this is true? I really want a 3.8 in my VK but have been told that its a hard swap and needs alot of work, and have been told thats its easy and will bolt straight in. Can anyone shed some light on this please?
    Cheers

I live next door to the boss at holden spares here (Bathurst). I was talking to him about this very topic yesterday and he told me that some doofus in parliment has got his bra in a twist over car mods. The current ADR (Australian Design Rule) for modifying any car is under review and if it is passed, mods like this will no longer be possible.
He was saying that even small mods like changing a trasmission will need to be approved by an engineer. It suck and he (among others) are on a lobby against it. It would be prudent to wait it out at this stage to see what happens. Hate to go to all that work and not be able to register you car.

that would suk but noone has heard of it so im sure thay cant do anything untill thay have informed the pubic. and i doubt u would need an engineer just go replace a gear box. wot would the point be if its all bolt up.

http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=40926 <<== man id love to do this to my vk but it is a vk sl so doesnt have the digital dash. does any1 no if that matters? i could get the dash but thats something id rather keep for later. also it isnt efi.. does anyone know how much more work that is?

from this guide on calaisturbo it doesnt seem like it took all that long. how long would changing the front end parts and all take? and houw much would it cost if i already have the 2 cars needed...

if not EFI you have to run the return fuel lines & use the vn tank & pumps.

    the dash doesnt matter
