    Default stalling / delays

    hey all

got a bit of a situation here..

    81 VC 4cyl auto

it has this pretty big delay.. if your rolling and press the accelerator it will hesitate for about 1-2 seconds then go..

also, today i was driving and it stalled out of nowhere.. coming out of a roundaboutm i was rolling as mentioned above n it just died..

    pulled over n restarted it..

    any ideas whats going wrong?

    Thanks

    I have a few suggestions..

1# make sure u have an Auto belt i made this mistake once, the manual fan betls are abit bigger and not so tight, this can cause the fuel pump to pump less due to turns from the belt.

Is the timing still good ? that could cause ur take off issue or an old accelerator cable. my new cable cost me 50 bucks

She may need a tune up wit hthe idle and mixer screw, this could also help if you have installed headers.

You may have faulty carby pump. When you give the engine full throttle, the engine gets a big rush of air and has a tendency to faulter or lag, so there is a little pump built into the carb (bit like a water pistol ) that gives it a squirt of fuel as the throttle is cracked open. If it fails, the car does what you have described. To check it out, without the motor running, take the aircleaner off and look down the carb and give it a few pumps of the throttle, you should see a "squirt of fuel" go in each time you pump it.

sorry I was posting in a hurry earlier..... What I ment was does it seem like a fuel issue? Like not getting enuf fuel? That was my point, Im sorry for the confusion! lol

If yes, then checking things like fuel filter & pump would be on my list of things, or putting bottle of inj cleaner etc thru it.... those kind of things

That flap thing would be your choke, prise it open so you can see or do it when it's warm and the choke is off
