I haven't got a VC book with me, but have you tried replacing the globe?
Check the wiring diagrams/schematics in the book. I'm afraid you probably won't find any info on it though. The Greg's is pretty limited, but handy sometimes when you want a simple to read answer
The globe has probably just blown. After 28 years of lighting up everytime the car starts, I'd be a bit burnt too if I was a globe.Then again, it might be a miracle and work ok.
Yeah thanks mate, its not a big issue its just something small i noticed.
I'll see how things are working in the morning and if it still does work... i havent payed much attention to it as i always put my seat belt on once i jump in ... It's good to have a mulitmeter its been handy so many times![]()

Goon, the seatbelt globe only lights up with the other warning lights. Like Craig said it's probably blown. It's not too hard to replace it, just tricky. Remove the 2 screws in the black cluster surround, and I then carefully wedge a thin screwdriver under above the top lip of the surround. It temporarily warps the upper panel just enough to drag inwards the 2 upper corners so that you can maneuver it out of the dashpad. Bob's your uncle from that point on.
gee everytime i have taken a VB/VC dash out, there isn't a globe for the Fastern Seat Belts. There is no spot for one either. I think Holden put them in the dash to fill the spot.

I think you're right SL/ENUT, in fact I know you're right. I know all other lights aside from the park brake go out when the car starts but now that you mention it, I have an inkling in the back of my head of seeing this when I replaced the dash globes last (it was 10 years ago I last had the cluster out). Everyone feel free to give me professional doofleberry reputation.
I have a GMH factory wiring schematic for a VC at home I will scan the relevent pages and post when I have it on my site probably tonight.

This is a VH dash facia. The fasten seat belt area is in the same spots for VB/VC.
Well behind it, i have maked where the globe should be and guess what...
.... Can't have one there. So i was right. I thought i might of been wrong.

That's funny. You could always do a bit of a mod if you are good with your handsYou could add the globe and use a timer and wire it up to the ignition and have it turn off after 10 seconds say. Gold!

It was an option wen u bought the car new, to have a globe there as well as the trailer light at the bottom. Just about all were neva option with it unless some old bloke or some1 wanted it.
I recall reading in my original owners handbook that it is only ever a reminder - it was never meant to light up. Think about it - to complete the curcuit, there would need to be wiring going from the seatbelt buckles to the dashboard. There is not....
