make up some new ones of your own. i did it in the vh. went to a hardware store, got a sheet of thin mdf (get the sturdiest yet thinest you can) and used the old trims as a template.
i still used the old vinyl as it wasn't too dead, but i dont' see why you couldnt' recover it in some new material.

Hey have u got any pics or more details on the door trims, i was thinking about doing the same thing??Originally Posted by vh-holden
thanks mate
I have been told that MDF is no good, soaks up all the water/moisture and stuffs them. Also with MDF none of the sealers/varnishes work either which sucks.Originally Posted by vh-holden
Can use plywood or what the original door trims was made out of, hardboard.![]()

sheet metal now that is different!. well the door trims on the VB-VL are about 3mm thick. But sheet metal i reckon go for it.

Aren't the origanal ones made of masonite? if they are you could just replace them with that, wouldn't be too hard to get hold of some the right size.
masonite is the stuff!!!! all looks the same to me.
use masonite. it still goes funny when it gets sopping wet, but it shouldn't get sopping wet.

Masonite is crap. What the trims are made of I think. It's about as good as particle board or chip board. When it gets wet, it destroys it and warps. MDF is good stuff and they should make more shelfs and trims with it. It is stronger and withstands moisture more than masonite and chip board. Sure, MDF soaks up stuff which you notice when priming and painting it but it comes up nice. Ply wood is very good and probably the best apart from a sheet of pine.Ply wood is good if it comes in the right thicknesses but it costs more than any of the above.

If the doors are fairly mint, they should still have the plastic lining between the door trim, and the metal frame of the door, if you give this plastic a new seal, or new plastic alltogether. If you do this and make sure the seal (between the trim and the glass window) is still good, you can then use whatever material you want as it will not get barely any moisture.
thanks heaps guys big help as usual ^_^

i have blue vh seats in my vk so vk trims will fit.
but only thing it vk and vl? have a funny sliding lock not the push down pin type one.
If you use sheet metal, make sure you use heaps of foam or insertion rubber otherwise it will pop and buzz from vibration. Drive you nuts.Originally Posted by V3N0M
