i want to try make my own custom back seat in the original bench style ( so i dont have to get a engineering thing ) wondering if anyone had any ideas how to go about it or maybe a web site that could tell me? ( wanting to make as many things myself )

Why not contact an reupholstery joint and get the original seats done? I have seen some brilliant work done to seats by these guys. The only problem is it can be very $$$.

what exactly were you looking to do? pumping the sides up? recovering them, i woudl start by using the old seat and pull al the material off and see what you have to work with,

Best way to do this is to remove the old material. You will then be able to see the foamed shape and start from there. Id then sit down and design exactly what i want to shape them like, ie.. imitation bucket etc etc..

Then its off to clark rubber or similar foam and rubber outlet store. Grab some sheets of foam and cut the new shape into the front, the old shape into the back. This way its like a lego block where they fit together and the new face is the design you want. Then you'll have to recover it... this is the hardest part and youll have to work out what glue to use ans foam is VERY porus.

You will have ot use glue as i cant see you being able to sew material to foam like the original if you are posting for a how to here... get it? So youll have to glue it. Best thing i can suggest is to just have a go and see what you can come up with.

Maybe buy some old bench seats from the wreckers and have a go on them incase you stuff up.

Dont let anybody tell you not to as it will "be to hard" and "not worth the effort" custom moding makes you appreciate your car sooo much...!!

Good Luck... PM me if you want more usless advice lol...
