Hey every1, i havnt had access to my internet for a couple of weeks SIGH! back again thank god lol. I have a question regarding my vk calais, its still on the ramps in the shed at the moment. But when it i had it on the road, and after a hit a pole in the right rear quarter, it used to make a thumping sound on acceleration, and at times would grind on braking heavily. My first thoughts were drivline, possably a Uni, but they seem fine. I couldnt find anything loose or rubbing anywhere on the car. Underneath everything still looked pretty well OK, but i've recently been told that it may be a sway bar issue, as this happend to som1 i know, in a very similar accident. What are your thoughts?

You could get under the car and inspect the bushes on the trailing arms and the sway bar and stabiliser bar link bushes. After a car that old, they can become stripped and buggered. I found at least 4 bushes on my car I had to replace including trailing arms and radius rods, also front control arms. Plus I need to do the link bushes as well.
Do you think your diff is alright?
Go see a mechanic, a trained eye will see it straight away. Uni's usually chatter when you back off the throttle.

yeah that was the lines i was thinking on. The diff seems ok yeah, and there is no play in the uni's whatsoever. so i think the best option will be mechanic yeah. unfortunate, its what i get for crashing it in the first place.

I suggest you look at the following things
Tailshaft centre bearing might be buggered causing the thumping under acceleration.
another option would be a bent axel (check both).
You could also have rear brake damage if a retaining spring has dislodged from a brake shoe
cheers
Scott
