Yeah he seems like he knew alot! Does anybody know how much a new/secondhand speedo cost, as the metal gear on is slipping and there is no way to glue it back?

Well a second hand speedo shouldn't be that dear. I don't think you can buy them brand new these days.
Usually you glue on the white cog gear that spins the odometer.

lol i found one in an old clock that had a brass cog that was the right size, bobs ur aunty.
