    Default Rear Brake Upgrade

I had a track day on the Sunday, everything was fine, brakes worked a treat. But when i went to change over the wheels back to drive the car home I noticed that the rear rotors were significantly darker blue than the fronts were, Indicating the rear brakes were getting hotter. The other thing I noticed was the right hand bleeder was leaking a little bit, since I'll need to replace the calliper to fix this, I was thinking what options will bolt straight on to the back that will still fit a 15" wheel, as the car gets used for off road events, as well. (autocross etc.)
The brakes are well balanced for the car, I've got VT up front with 1" master, I may update to VT master but for now the peddle feel is OK.
I'm mainly after keeping things cooler.

I've heard that the HSV VN-VP are a direct bolt on with vented disks, and similar dimensions therefore shouldn't change the braking characteristics very much.
Any other options that would work?

In stead of upgrading the rear brakes, _yet_ have you considered inproving the cooling of the rotors & calipers first? Maybe some ducting on the rear trailing arms with a hole cut into the backing plates might allow enough air on the rotors to cool them.

Else I have adapted VZ monaro rear ventilated discs to the rear of my VK project but it took alot of machining etc to make them fit.

    regards
    Scott

I Have thought about removing the thin section of backing plate, obly need to find a way to mount the brake line and handbrake return spring.
Only problem is in the dirt events stones could get into the handbrake area and cause problems.
I'll have to look into the idea of ducting and see where i could run some if possible. Still need to replace the right hand calliper to fix the leak though.
