    Default Auto Tri service...

    Hey all

I'm about to do a service on on auto trans and i was wondering if i could skip the tightning the belt part and just replace the gaskets & filter instead.... My ride drives pretty good as it is atm just leaks abit in that area.

    Cheers

You can get a torque wrench from an auto shop, Repco, Peps etc, but they don't seem to be cheap.
I don't know if you can get any cheaper ones elsewhere.

What belt are you talking about? Do you mean the band? Don't skip on this. It's a simple job. All you need is a mini click type torque wrech with a 1/4" head on it. I posted a while back a mini how-to on this:

Though would it be possible to fix the band using a socket?

If not, i'm sure i can get a lend of the tool from someone else

No, I had access to my cousin's pit. It was gold. It's too much work getting cramped under the car without a pit. If I had no pit I'd probably use car ramps and stands/jacks.

If you live at your parents house, try and convince them to allow you to dig a pit in your garage if you have a double car garage. It will take you about 3 months hard work digging up hard rock and dirt but you won't regret it!

Nah there isn't really much other than using jacks and car stands. I am just lucky my cousin is a farmer and has all the equipment required at my finger tips.
