Default sports steering wheel on a VK

hey guys was just wondering wat your opinions are on replacing the calais steering wheel for a black lether wraped sports one? do you think that it would look out of place with the calais interior its blue. im working on getting a pic.

    thanks, nick

anything is better than the horrible stock one

blue/black is fine, as the inside of the dash etc is black so it all matches schmick

Yeah, anything like the Brock Momo's look good on the early models, mind you i also think that the Woodgrain wheels looks decent if the interior is clean ... like mine!

I was thinking about adding a wooden wheel. But I only would if the boss kit matches my dash colour which is the cerulean green/blue colour.

boss kit is black unless you paint it.. and a woodgrain wheel sets the interior off if its clean..

I have seen the odd boss kit on ebay that's in the cerulean blue/green colour. Possibly out of a HDT vehicle.

I use to have one in my calais and i thought it looked good and suited the car much better when i bought mine it had a horrible standard one (non calais) and i'll tell you the steering feels so much better with the smaller wheel.

Can u replace any commodore steering wheel with another? without a bos kit?

EG. instead of a VC steering wheel, would a VK or VL one fit?

I think VB-VL are all the same. I wouldn't use a VK Calais steering wheel in a car with non power steering as the wheel isn't strong enough for use on non power steering barges.

Thanks, i have power steering so all is good

I'm guessing a non power steering wheel would still work well in a power steering setup ?

With boss kits.. does the brand of the boss kit only fit that brand of steering wheel ?

Nick Forget the woodgrain option if i was you id consider the momo or Issotta Steering Wheels they come with legal requirments printed on the back matched with same branded Boss Kit to pass if u get defected.

I have A Issotta Evoluztion Leather Steering Wheel Grey as you may know, pics can be found in my ride so check out motoquipe and take it from there i am sure the good blokes down @ westlakes can show you the variety and new ones that are out but put away $200 - $500 for something sweet from Italy.
    Cheers.

Yes a non power steering wheel will work fine in a power set up.

Virtually all steering wheels (aftermarket) will fit any boss kit.

yeah SA have the toughest laws on sports wheels all Issotta wheels & some Momo's are ADR ticked. but make sure you get a 'colapsable' boss kit also, because without it, again not legal.

Ill post a pic up tomorrow of NUFNSUS with black Momo & boss kit in a cerulean interior. Looks good

Not sure about that one. AFAIK, Calais or Commodore, they are the same. They use the same steering column, it's just the other bits that change the luxury. Who told you that?

Anything would be better than the Calais steering wheel.I think they're crap & twist.I've bought a VK Exec donor car, even the steering wheel in that is better than my Calais steering wheel.
