Hey Gang
Just wondering if you are able to buy the accelerator clips in any shops at all? My rides running sweet atm and kicks over on first turn, only thing is the cable comes lose from vibrations, maybe there could be another method?
I tried electrical tape for a temp job for tonight but she came lose after 10mins![]()
I also have a 12v item running with a fuse , though atm all i have is 16amp fuses, will this be okay?
to answer the fuse question, it depends what the item your running is, but a 15amp fuse is good place to start as its in the middle of the range. and as for an accelerator clip, what sort of linkage is it? you can buy most clips and linkages it depsnds wich one your after, can you take a pick of the linkage setup?

15amp fuse should be fine. need more info on the clip, there are thousands of clips that hold cables to throtles and i dont know witch one you need.

It sounds like the accellerator cable has probably stretched quite a bit. It's possible that it has never been replaced. I would suggest buying a new one. I can't remember but I think they are about $30-$40 each from Repco or Autobarn etc...
As for the fuse, a 15 amp fuse is quite a lot to fuse a tacho guage. A 15 amp fuse would be an indeal setup to drive a 180 Watt heater.Or a couple of driving lights and a couple of beacons.
If I was you, I would neatly mount an inline fuse (if you really need) under the dash inline with the tacho +12V wire. Just use a 3AG plastic glass fuse holder with a 1 amp fuse and it should be fine. You could probably power the tacho from anything really. You could even join the +12V wire to the same 12V wire as your head unit. If you really wanted to add a fuse, a 1 amp fuse and automotive glass holder would be sufficient. Look at the pic below of the fuse holder I am talking about. They can be bought at Tricky Dickies cheap ($1.20) and if you wish to fuse many things, I'd use these and tuck them away behind the dash.![]()

I would go back to the auto joint you bought the cable and ask them about the clip.
Basically Goon, you look at the wire size (the 12V provider) that your other things like bulbs or tachos or stereos are connected to it and you say to yourself:Originally Posted by Goon

So, in other words, if you have your asessories connected to a wire, will the wire handle all the current? Much of the wiring in a car can usually handle 5-10 amps max. I'd say about 99% of wiring.
You could connect a 100 things to one wire if you want, but if it gets overloaded, the wire will melt to bits and likely blow fuses too, along side a big voltage drop.
Just when you connect multiple devices to one 12V source wire, it's best to solder the wires together and slip a sleeve of heatshrink tubing over it and shrink it. It makes it look professional and keeps it good from shorting with other wiring or the chassis. Hope this helps.
How thick is this wire in question?

Oh forgot to add. Very nice avatar. PM me some pics of your car.![]()
Thanks mate, i have pictures being added to a website, though its only the first part of pictures on that site so far, non of todays updates.
## Well no need for me to cross wires now i just found another way i can do it, only trial and error first before will i know the right answer![]()
