    Default VC lock upgrade.

    Hey all

I'm looking at buying solex locks from supercheap for my VC as they ones atm still look to be original

Would solex be a good choice?

Also an alarm system, price and place? "cheap if possible" - I intend on installing it myself, so nothing to hard.. stereo installing was easy so...

Solex = Bad idea. I have heard so many stories about having them just popped and ripped out with oversize pliers. I used to think it was a good idea until I started hearing bad reports about them. They are just another gadget to have. What you would be better doing is if your locks are worn meaning that different keys can open the lock, just replace the barrels with new ones and of course fit an alarm and immobiliser with a nice bright flashing LED on the front right steering column. That should scare the majority away.

But Genuine ones can be popped out just as easily.

Solexes act as a deterrent only. Stops 14yo punks with a Holden key getting into your car and taking it for a joyride. Doesn't stop more pro thieves, though.
