Hey guys, just did a carby rebuild on the varajet carby (its off a black 202) we replaced a few items out of the carby such as ( needle and jet, plunger, all the gaskets and cleaned the whole thing out. there was a medium size spring that looked like it connected onto where a microswitch is but we couldn't find a place to put it and it was just hanging off before. we re-assemble the carby and put it back on the engine. there was a hose that runs from the left hand side of the carby(right against the rocker cover) that runs to a sensor on on the right side of the motor. this had broken off so we sealed up the hose with a bolt. now when we start the motor it will start once run at fast idle then die and turn off. this happened today and i haven't been able to start it again. we didn't adjust any of fuel, air or andy of those adjustments screws loctaed on the carby itself.
it seems like i get once chance to start this car and if it stalls then i can't start it again. any ideas on what i should be checking out.
cheers guys
What did you set the float level at?

wejust left everything as is,we pulled out the float assemble and at first we put it in upside down and then we realised so we put it in the right way, we didin't change anything, how ever that little metal spring thing that sits on the needle looked kinda weird to us, is that suppose to be attacthed somehow, we left it clipped onto the top of the needle, can i check the float level with the carby in the car?
yeah i am quite at a loss as to explain why it wont start and i need all the help i can get
no she is manual, it just keeps turning over, i can hear a squirting noise from the carby. i tried aero start and it still wouldn't start
found it, stupid ignition fuse had blown, i feel so stupid for not checking that but seeing as the engine was running and then stopped it was a bit of a mystery. the RAA guy came out and said i had no negative pulse on my ignition coil so we traced it back from there. the dizzy was heaps dirty aswell. at least its a learning experience for me haha
