Default Full metal jacket - how do they work + what do they look like?

    Hey guys,

Thinking of getting an FMJ for the VK after it's 2nd theft in as many years... but have no idea how they work or look like or where they mount to - all I know is that they're a shield for the ignition barrel... but what exactly are they shielding it from?

Any pics or info would be brilliant

    - Chris.

So really a decent immobiliser will be just as effective without making it look ugly as shit, then?

    Or are they relatively inconspicuous?

    Theyre chromed steel

they are made by the RAA in SA

the cover the ignition switch and wrap around the ignition barrel so you cant lever it out and do the old screwdriver trick

They are made for VB-VK, ive seen a boatload of them on vehicles at the wreckers

    www.raa.com.au

the RAA here is the equivalent of RACV, RACQ and NRMA in other states

I've just been in contact with the RAA and they no longer produce the Full Metal Jacket. Anyone have a clue of where to obtain one, or a new supplier, other than the 1 in a 100000 chance one pops up on eBay? (sorry to dig up another old thread, but it's what search brings me!)

I wouldnt bother, if someone wants the car it isnt going to stop them, just break the lock pin on the steering column and you could easily make up a patch in harness intot he main harness under the dash and completely bypass all the steering column controls.
best with a good alarm or a well mounted battery isolator switch and/or a couple of cut out switched, earth for the computer is a good tricky one to find, or the usual ignition, fuel pump etc.

    cheers
    Scott
