I'm considering driving to summernats from Adelaide in january..
Around town i usually get around 250km out of a tankbut i have a bit of a heavy foot off of the lights

My car at 100-110 sits on around 2,500RPM
Would anyone be able to estimate what kind of kms i would be expecting out of a tank driving at constant 100-110?
I will have a person in the passenger seat, so they will chip in for fuel along the way..
I've been told its about 1200KMs to canberra.. and if it's going to cost too much in fuel i'll probably just not go.
well if its anything like my vk efi i'd guess anywhere from 10-15L/100kms too hard to say really ....

Get LPG, it costs a bit to install but its damned worth it. I can't tell you how happy I am only to be paying 20-25 at the pump, and less often too! I think some members have installed parts of the gas system themselves as well to save money. It definately works![]()
250km from a tank is absoloutley retarded dude.
There's no way that's running right. You should see 400 from it.
edit: you've got 3.08 gears? You should see 400 without a problem. 3.08 is bloody low.
edit: you SHOULD (if it were a normal non-****ed VK EFI) see it there and back with 2 tanks each way and probably a bit to spare at the end, too. I reckon you could squeeze up to 700 out of a tank on the highway.
my vk isnt ****ed..Originally Posted by synoptica
its in perfect condition with low kms, i think it just needs a proper service & tune up.
couldn't agree more ... i got a blue 202 with vk efi, celica 5 speed and 3.08 gears in my torana and mine uses $1-2 per 100km's more than my brothers VS V6 ute gets .... and i can assure you it smokes his ute too.Originally Posted by Goon

My VK gets about 300 From a tank, and i must admit to a lead foot. When im conserving a tank for a long trip, by driving gently and sitting on around 95 - 100, she gets about 370.

I have to agree with you. I get around 10k/1L on the hwy. Which equates to around 600 kms to the tank. I know the VL lovers and VK haters out there will arc up but the 3ltr VL motors would do well to beat it.Originally Posted by synoptica

Thats actually a lot of power for not a lot of work. If done right they will take a lot of punishment. VL turbo's were only 150kw.Originally Posted by traindriver

A well tunned EFI 202 can have high power as well as get 12k/l on freeway which equates to around 720K's from the tank.
This moter is producing 107.9rwkw which is around 140kw at fly wheel. allowing for power loss through gearbox etc.
Mate I would believe that. My EFI 202 has an air intake leak which is making it run a little rich and I'm still getting 10.Originally Posted by gd81

an air intake leak would make it run leaner than normal, that would make it get better economysounds like if you fix the air leak then adjust the air flow meter you'll get better economy still and probably get some power back too

I'm no mechanic but i understand what you are saying, though the mechanic that is building my V6 motor had a look at it and on a carby motor it would run leaner.Originally Posted by Sammy
Being EFI, a leak in the air intake screws up the O2 sensor and with it's false reading, causes the computer to pump too much fuel through it.
On a cold start it wont hold a steady idle either. up-down-up-down, until you hold your foot on the throttle and give it about 1000rpm to steady the idle. It could be leaking exhaust aswell, as it is the same gasket as the intake manifold. It will be fixed soon so .....
