    Default vc - wont start

    hey guys

got myself a bit of a dilemma..

i took the bottom cover off the steering column to take a look for the starter motor wire.. when I couldnt find it I gave up n put it back on..

now, heres my problem.. you put the key in the ignition.. but it wont turn.. its stuck in place.. and theres sufficent clearance around the column..

    Any ideas?

Check your Battery mate, it may be flat..

Take a quick look at your starter motor see if the wires are still connected right, look around the wiring area to that worked on, you may have moved something while taking pieces off.

Okay i know u have a differnt motor, but i found apart in the book where it says, your starter motor may be jamed, this would require you to remove it and take a look.. It also says something about checking your flywheel why doing this.

    My scanners not connected atm

lol mate, i thought it was your starte motor not turning.

Make sure your not pushing your key to far fwd ... If your sterring is locked, turn the key then move the wheel

Ill look in my book again soon..

    hmmmm

I looked into my book, but its about the wiring and releys..

It sounds like it skipping something or its being blocked, with the casing off have a look while turning the key

Is the plastic around the column loose at all?

In my old VH, because it was loose, the plastic sometimes fell down a bit and something inside there (I dunno what it was, it was just like a little metal arm thingy), would hit the plastic. Thus preventing it from turning enough to start.

Ah, you have to pull the steering colum apart. There is a little plastic bit that always breaks on the earlier models. Cant remember exactly where it is but you will see it when you pull it apart. It has something to do with the bit of rod that the key tumbler pushes and pulls.
