ah, don't know about all that silver and i'd leave the CAI black.
But that's me.
WILL THE VK EVER MAKE IT BACK ON THE ROAD
i dunno, silver looks better but all that overspray looks kinda dodge IMHO.
yeah i dunno either about all of that silver i would have done it a chrome/polished look and foxthor is right about all of the spray over, my susgestion is to try and clean that excess up.
But otherwise it looks heaps better than before.
yeah i know, im not too worried about the hoses etc, they are all being replaced. there will be more red invovled, and all i intend to get a polished rocket cover.

Few more shots for yaz, got the red on, it does look quite good in life. There is no red overspray, it does look like that in those photos a little, but its just red glow off teh radiator shroud. BTW< I BELIEVE GOON ASKED ME FOR THE HOT TIP? lol, well i took the shroud off, and applied very light coats of red gloss paint (just teh shitty $5 can) just hold the can at a distance so it gets a fine mist. do this several times to avoid runs. I did make it run a little at the front as you can see in the photo. BUT - this has now been fixed via this process.

not too bad mate should look good when you replace the hoses and clean all the overspray up
cheers, thanks, pretty happy with the results. The only thing i didnt really touch are the extractors. They are rusty as shit to lol. I'll get em some other day with a bit of the heat resistant paint that can take exhaust heat, up to 1300degrees i think som1 said.

ahk, well i'll find out prior to buying, but id imagine the higher the better

can try jet hot coatings, which is a ceramic coating that looks silver.
Anly costs around $300 which includes them couriering them to and from your home, sandblasting them clean and then coating. advantage is it also helps reduce engine bay temps by a few degrees. as well as stops any more corrosion as they get coated inside as well.

On the average daily driver I would recommend 1500degF heat proof paint, you need to really prep the surface well and remove all contaminants, when I painted my header on my 202 I bead blasted them first, then washed them down with wax & grease remover then blew them down with compressed air & painted them.
When painting put a couple of coats around edges & welds first let each coat dry before applying the next, then fill in the rest of the areas & give the whole thing another coat when done.
When fitting them make sure your working with clean tools & parts are they will mark, I wrapped mine in rag untill i was finished fitting them. I had mine painted for 2 years and showed no signs of rust, discolouration and they looked great.
The Jet hot coatings are awesome and I will be getting a fair amount of my exhaust done for my VK just before I register it. If the car is something nice or you have money to burn its the way to go.
cheers
