    Default HELP! speedo problem

Just bought a new vk BT1 5L and have to get it road worthy. The speedo isn't working. I have replaced the cable and the cog thing. When its not in the gearbox the speedo moves (so its not the actual speedo) but when its in the gearbox nothing happens at all. Its a auto (unfortunatly) and we have no clue what to try next. its driving me and Josh crazy. Any suggestions would be really helpful particularly before next Tuesday. Thanks

Is there a cog on the end of the speedo cable that goes into the gearbox?
Secondly if ther eis whats its condition esp the square hole where the speedo cable slots into it.

Next if all that is ok have a look through the speedo cable hole in the gearbox at the drive gear and see its condition, even try spinning it with your finger, there oculd be a broken pin, buggered gear all kinds of things.

    cheers
    Scott

If so u could try buying a new speedo cable or buying a 2nd hand one from the wreckers.

Then if that doesnt work it maybe is other things.

go for a drive with the speedo cable out where you can see it, and check if it's turning. It will tell you which end the problem is at...

the trans has a nylon worm gear on it, if your cable and driven gear are fine, it'll mean that the drive gear, being the worm gear, is chewed up... Replacement requires removal of the extension housing and a circlip will hold the gear onto the output shaft...
    No wah to that!

    Never late with ROB308...
