Alright. Here is a different one. Post your battery pics showing the cabling etc... Who has the cleanest looking battery? The best looking terminals? The best looking wiring?
Seeing that I love good wiring connections so much, I thought I'd see.
Here is a pretty useless pic of mine. Hard to see. My camera broke and I am getting a new one next week so I will need to wait until I get it to take a closer pic.
If anyone can guess what is wrong with my battery in the picture below, you would be pretty smart.![]()
Go on! Post your VB-VK battery pics!![]()

on mine the battery posts are on the opposite sides, ie, the positive is on the right..... or is that "whats wrong" with yours!
Well here is my battery pic, complete with 1g cabling, duel pole isolator switch, gold plated battery terminals the positive just happened to have a voltage guage on it.
I fabricated up the mounts to snuggly fit my new optima yellow top. The 750cca turns the 5L over beautifully.
cheers

I think I'll call you the "batteryphile".
Lol I long overkill and over engineering, it just so happens the battery install is only 2 weeks old, I ran out of room in the engine bay for the battery so it ended up in the boot. I didnt plan on using gold connectors, its just the only ones I could fit my cable into properly without using lugs & fitted the battery terminals the optima seems ot have a bit smaller positive terminal than most.Originally Posted by Slim

Hey Scott,
I have pretty much the same terminals.
They are Jaycar terminals.

Nah, its split at the bottom so all the electrolyte has leaked out of it. It didn't hold its charge for long after that.
I wasn't serious about taking it back either. I'd like to see their faces if i did take it back. "it was like this when i bought it"

just wondering vkberlina, is it ok to put such a bigger battey in the car? mine only has a 350cca or so battery instaled at the moment, and i wanted to put a bigger battery in for a more "clean" crank, but i was not sure if it can be done.I fabricated up the mounts to snuggly fit my new optima yellow top. The 750cca turns the 5L over beautifully.
is it ok to do with no complications?
You can. I put an 11 plate in my old Sigma and realised afterwards what a whole big waste of money it was.
V8's and more powerful 6's need an 11 plate, 6 cyl 9 plate and 4 cylinders 7 plate batteries. Don't bother wasting money unless it's necessary.
Several reasons for my battery choice.
1: The battery is in the boot & I opted for the Optima as it was a sealed type battery. The physical dimensions of the Optima are alot smaller than a conventional type battery of equivelant capacity.
2: I was worried about voltage & current drop. going from the rear to the front, although I used good wire, good connectors etc, I wanted to make sure.
3: There are periods where I need a long lasting battery and the Optima offered this as well.
All in all I would have settled for around a 600CCA battery but the figures of the optima I bought was higher than what I needed, so I bought it anyway.
I am very happy with the battery

The average battery lasts between 3 & 4 years I suppose. Just wondering if it would be worth paying all the extra $.
Here's a better pic of mine. Better than average for older barges.Nice propane torch soldered lugs with black heatshrink over them. Nice and tidy.

buzurk..... you must have one mean stereo.....
I always put the largest battery that I can fit/afford in my cars. My reason for doing this is that the cars are usually automatics that |I cannot push start in an emergency. I live in the country where we get severe frosts down to -4 which is hard on batteries (I hate being stuck). It has paid off for me in that I usually get about 7 to 8 years out my batteries, for usually only $20 to $40 dollars more than a standard battery.

Price wise, mine was trade so I cant say the price but RRP is around $350 for mine.

where did you run the cables when you moved the battery to the boot?

My Mum bought her Lancer in 2002. It's still the original battery 4 1/2 years later. I thought that was not bad. What is it with factory parts? They seem to last longer.
My old man got 10 years out of the factory battery in his Lite-Ace, only pulled it out because he was thinking it must be ready to start having problems (still kept it as a spare though!!). On the flipside of the coin, when I bought my WH it was 3 years old with original battery - car would struggle to turn over when I test-drove it. Condition of sale specified by me was a new battery as well as a few other items (CD stacker, suspension bushes). On a positive note the Exide K-Mart special in my VC is 6 years old, needs charging every few months now but that's a pretty good life-span.Originally Posted by Slim
Yeah I've found that batteries need an extra seperate charge every now and then. The thing with batteries is that they never get to full capacity.
I am seriously thinking about buying the Jaycar battery zapper kit. I am really thinking it could be a useful item. Although I might not get my money worth out of it, my cousin who is a farmer has 20+ batteries on the farm which he would benefit from it enormously.
