gday fellas
ive got a 202 which is blowing heaps of smoke. its just had new rings and bearings and a reco head i assembled myself. its got high compression on all 6 cylinders. any idea what could be the cause?
cheers
We need way more info... Ok the smokes gunna be blue if its burning oil. When does it blow the smoke?
At startup?
Idle?
when backing off?
when you give it a floor the throttle?
When you assembled the engine, did you check your bearing tollerances for your big ends & little ends with plasti guage?
Did you make sure you faced the rings the correct way? they just arent thrown on there.
Did the head get new guides? Who installed the valve stem seals?
cheers
Scott

most likely incorrectly fitted oil rings or stock rings in a bored block, bad hone job, who knows without info ?

sorry it took so long for me to reply. incorrectly installed valve stem seals. must've had a brain explosion when doin them. problem solved. no longer burning oil.
thanks
Even so it's a good chance the both valves and stems are also worn, a new engine with no valve stem oil seals wil show only a small amount of smoke both at startp and off the throttle down hill.
