Got my 202 Black Engine back today...YIPPEE...!!!!been hanging to get my hands on me spanners agen putting it back together.Took it to Harman Engine Reconditioners here in Salisbury.Heard they had a good rep & turns out they were fab.John & Andy down there know their engines.I was there the day an enormous Cummings engine turned up for a Reconn. The work I had done was rebored, faced Block & Head shaved, new Pistons, Bearings , new Stage 1 Camshaft, new Timing Gears & the Head completely reconned with new Inserts, Guides Etc & setup 4 ULP/Gas.I'm setting it up with a 350 Holley & Extractors in a mock up engine bay complete with the dash & engine loom...Just 4 an experiment into Engines of which I dun have any idea & to teach my teenage Son.Luckily Dad's a Diesel Mechanic so advice is only a fone call away...![]()
Ahh nice. Nothing like a nice freshly shaved bore and reco cylinder heads. They always come back like new. From experience, make sure you use all the proper lubes and stuff and stop if you don't know what to do. Loctite #3 is very useful.
Don't worry if something doesn't go right. There is always a dang hiccup along the way. It bugs me.![]()
Arr cheers Slim, already had hiccups dis-assembling it lol.Kept the Sub Frame from my old donor car.I'm handy with a welder so I'm gunna make a frame out of 250mm C section to sit it in with pneumatic tyres so I can move it about.I wanted to learn the internals of an engine + show my Son the basics of Timing & Maintenance & so forth.Got a new spare 3 core Radiator here aswell to sit up front & sum thermos to cool it.I hung on to the old Trimatic which I compleletly rebuilt now with new V8 Pistons & Springs which is going in her EFI Berlina when I find a stally.I also kept the Salisbury I'll rebuild 1 day when I find time......
The best way to learn is if you have the motor in front of you. I could never figure the workings of them until I had a motor in bits in front of me. In the end I found the way a motor works is simplier than I thought.
Good luck with it.![]()

put in a V6?
the 202 was never renowned for performance
however they go forever and a day
you can easily get a 202 beating a VN with the right work, but in stock form the VN will win every time.
Sammy.
