Do i have to make a mod to my original coil lead?

My old coil the point would stick out, making it easy for the lead to clikc over and on.

New coil the part that meant to connect is inside the top part. "instead of sticking outside its down inside"

How is it different. The gt 40 coil I've had just plugged straight on.

Could you give us a pic or description of it.

Im pretty sure a GT40R coil is the wrong one for the car, the R means it needs a ballest resister.
If you go to your local parts store you can get a coil lead male (coil end) to female dizzy end.

Your best to buy the right coil.

    cheers

I did buy the right coil mate, it even says so on the side of the box.. **Commdore VC- VH 4cyl, 6 cyl **I got the old school one which is the same shape still, cylinde type. there's new ones constat of a rectangle type, which wasnt on my list.

It's basicly just the 1 lead its self, the lead's end cap which plus into the coil , is like permently stuck there, it cant slip the covering back to click in, so i'm guessing ill use an old top gun lead i have for the coil.. would 1 top gun lead have any issues with bosch leads for the firing order?

eg. bosch, firing.. topgun, coil. <-- its not like ai can really try atm

ps. ill try a new lead for the shops, im sure ive heard this coil being in other commodores before..

Sounds like you've grabbed the old school one that needs the ballast resister fitted as previously descibed. A ballast restister drops the volts going to your coil to about 8 volts I think. Normally found on some cars with points. I know some torana's and the old kingswoods had them. Not sure about dunnydores

THanks for that info mate lol I found that out similar stuff after some extra research

I decided to take it back and get my cash back Installed the good old one back in

Would anybody have an idea on how much a new coil could be? & where there's a good chance of getting one?

You may need to get them to order it though. They don't carry all stock, but go in and talk to them. They usually know what you are talking about and can look up their computers/manuals for you.
