hey, is it worth puttn a new ECU 3.3 efi for more power, coz i heard that u cnt get upgrade the standard one. has anyone done this b4, or know how much power can b gain from this mod ?
Cheers, Robbie
cant you chip the efi 202 ecu?
nah i heard its either u change it, or nothing
Cheers, Robbie
efi 202 ecu is analog.
I put an Autronic system on mine and you could notice the power improvement with the ECU alone.
It became far more responsive and smoother as well.
You can get the VN computers reprogramed to suit the VK, you need all the sensors from the VN and get the dizzy modified to act as a crank angle sensor.
what do u mean by analouge?
Not digital.
No processor, ram or program at all.
The injector pulsw width is generated by a series of resistors and capacitors with imputs from ignition and airlow meter(resistor).
Simply put no smarts of any kind.
damn that would be soo bloody simple to manipulate.
Apparently not that easy to manipulate accurately.
Besides analog systems a vunerable to heat and cold, resistance and capacitance values change slightly with heat. Also you can't set the values for the resisters for all load/rev ranges of the motor.
That's why they have programs in them now as you can adjust things for each rev and load range of the motor.
so what type of ECU would fit best with a worked 202 efi black. im planning on doin all the head work, (possibly YT head) forgies, port n polish, pretty much all top and bottom end engine work.VL V8 diff, but i wana hang on to the trimatic box, i like it 4 sum reason. oh btw, i recently found out my exhaust is off an studibaker hahahaha, as long as it sounds mean im happy.

Many ecu's work.
Do a quick search on the net there are heaps around.
I used an Autronic system on mine http://www.autronic.com/
I know you can get a VN delco unit reprogramed to suit the VK.
yeah i just checked out the autotronic site and it look pretty bloody good. how much did u for your system ?
Cheers, Robbie
The unit cost around $1700 for ecu, loom, sensors etc. Been a while can't fully remember.
Then you'll need to pay to get it dyno tuned.
You can spend more if you want to add thermo fans etc.
I also wired in a shift light into an unused light on the dash. didn't cost me anything for that one.
If I remember the site with info on modding an VN Delco I'll post that. As i've seen a car with that working quite well as well.
yeah, a lot of people prefer the re-programmed VN Delco comp. cos they are cheap and technology today can map them to suit a lot better than the older days when it was just a chip to upgrade the digital computers...
No wah to that!
Never late with ROB308...
Hey, bit off topic, but was wondering can i put an efi in my 1984 vk executive, it is carby, so im wondering can it be changed, and if so what prices am i looking at.....?
Any ideas welcome!

anything is possible, if you got the time and money... a change in a VK is fairly cheap, but a bit of fiddling around, but yeah, still possible as a home job... by, the time and effort, its not really worth it, carbys are just as good if tuned well...
No wah to that!

alrite, i wanna go with the VN delco computer. can u run me through what i have 2 do exactly to get it all wired up ? my brother is a great mechanic, but i think you blokes know more bout wat ur doin with commodores.
