    Default Boot lock install

    Hey all

I just brought a bootlock barrel with key for 10 dollars

Now to install this do i just removed the metal "Wire" clip??? then insert withthe rubber on the outside? then insert the wire clip to hold it in?

I don't plan to move the metal clip plates.

    Cheers

Yep thats basically all there is to it. The only problem is, whilst its easy to get the clip off, it nearly impossible to get back on......It's pretty fiddly, but it is possible.

Really? I had no problems getting the old one out, but trying to get the clip back on the new one....Well, it wouldn't open up enough to fit over the barrel!!

Grrr...someone always gets it easier than I do....

I became a pro at replacing my bootlock when i had a vl, it was always poped fortunatley for me i didnt have a sub and amp in that car. I came up with a better clip to use with the lock, it wasnt made of wire, more like a circlip made of sheet metal - harder to flex etc so it didnt fall out so easily.

I notice i ended up placing the clip in backwards, without the metal wire stabbin my fingers, but this made it tighter and no movement in the lock what so ever!

I've seen thos metal sheet pieces on ebay for VNs.. but these one look like something id have on the end of my air filter housing for a certain hose

Do you like to do your own work on ya car doyle? i do

Boot spring? As in the hinge that holds the boot up?

Hey dude you should just ignore the boot springs and just put in a gas strut. That IS so much easier than putting in them bloody boot springs.
