Hey,
i might be sounding a bit stupid, but i have a vk executive and its carby, was wondering if i can change it to efi, and if so what prices am i looking at...?
Any ideas...??
Thanks![]()

yep, it is possible, but no, not really worth it... carby is fine if you have it tuned nice and for the time, money and effort to change it, you're prob be better off stickin with the carby, unless you have an EFI set-up lying around...
No wah to that!
Never late with ROB308...
It can be done and cheaply too... if you can get the parts.
I bought my VK EFI wreck for $400 inc towing. Out of that I scored a high-rise console, digital dash, full loom, cerulean Calais seats, disc rear end, Calais taillights and garnish, Brocky grille, Calais outer door trims, and of course the EFI gear.
I've still got most of the above (things like the grille, console, rear seat headrest guides and brackets and outer door trims have been sold.) Made back almost the full purchase cost and still have a full Calais rear, disc diff, digi dash and EFI gear - and I haven't been to a wrecker in almost a year. The car has well and truly paid for itself even before you include half the above gear!
well done on a good buy synoptica.
SiLeNt-SoN, thats what ur better of doin, buyin an efi writeoff and just take out all the running gear, and then u can still salvage what interior goodies it has left.
i agree totally, i have bought a few cars in the past for the EFI gear, $100, $150 for them, can't beat it, and definatelly the EFI once adjusted to suit your motor will be far nicer than a carby.

what size carby is best to fit to a 202 black( for fuel consumption ), my freinds are suggesting a 350 holly, or a triple webber, what ya think?
phase
triple webers are a mole to keep tuned, 350 holleys are over rated... i'd personally rebuild the stock varijet, or use a weber off the XE-XF falcon...

350 holley and webers are probably the two worst options on a 202 for economy![]()

like i said, best way to go on a stock blue 202 is the standard carb freshened up with a rebuild kit...

so, question, why do alot of mechanics keep telling me that the triple webbers and 350 Holley are better on fuel consumption when they have a kit put through them, in comparison to the Varijet 2 with a Kit through it?
i know i sound abit stupid for asking, but ive got a triple webber and 350 holley with kit (mate just gave them to me after putting EFI on his Vk) and the varijet on mine aint that good, so what do you reckons best for the mean time and I'll tune it from there?
Your fuel usage will change either way, but id' rather stick with carby then a tripple webber or holley to much fuel gone there...
But seeing you have a black 202 i'd go with EFI if you can.. its what it was made for![]()
Best fuel usage would have to be a carby after reco is what i think.
if you want the best ecconomy possible, then yeah, the stock EFI would be the way to go, keeping in mind the time effort and money factors...
If you want a simple easy set-up, put a rebuild kit through your varijet since its a stock engine, all a holley or weber set will do is flood your engine and guzzle up all your fuel...

hey guys i just finished my varajet to efi conversion on black 3.3...i'm running on gas with all fuel stuff either removed or blocked..she starts perfect on gas and runs well...any ??? i do my best to answer....
do you actually have a set of triple webers (eg. three seperate carbies) or just a single weber carby, if the triples then the above applies, if its just a single weber thats a whole different story.Originally Posted by Phase

triples may be better, until you have to tune them on their typical regular basis...

someone in another thread suggested using the stock base of the air cleaner, and a chrome top (universal), about 9" i think... the other way to go would be to use the ET sports air filter with a base made for the varijet (part number: 16-34)...
