    red = positive
    black = negative
    green = negitive coil
    white = parker wire

    Hey,

    thats about what i needed to know, but were are these wires placed? in a black coil of wires under the hood? or like under the steering wheel? or in the dash somewhere?????

    and things like, red=positive, but what colour is the positive wire?

    im hopeless at this! lol

    thanks

    lol just run the red wire to the positive battery terminal
    run the black wire to a bit of metal under the dash
    with the green wire run it to the coil you will see a little - mark on one of the 2 terminals
    now your parker wire is usually a dark purple or violet colour best bet would be to get a test light and try and find it under your dash if you think you found it turn the parkers on and off and if your test light goes on and off you know thats the one but best place to look for it would be in the light switch wire loom

    you're better off hooking the power wire (red) to accesories, ie. cigar lighter, clock, stereo, etc... As for the light, an idea would also be cigar lighter, clock as it then the brightness of the tacho light can also be adjusted/dimmed...

    This is just a tip#

    When using the 12v accessory in the fuse box, make sure your key isnt tunred to far fwd, i've noticed with mine being 1/2mm to far fwd wont activate the 12v access.

    So if you think your connects have an outstanding stable hold, and nothing isn't happening.. just make sure your key isnt that extra bit fwd.

    just checking that it is connected to the battery, the only other thing i could think of would be the earth, do u have a multimeter or a voltmeter? if so you could check everything 2 make sure there is power where it is supposed 2 be, so then if it still doesnt work u can blame the tacho itself and take it back

    when i wired mine up, the light didnt work at all, but i eventually got the tacho itself to work, i had the green on the positive of the coil, was told that was wrong so changed it and it worked, the light has just decided 2 work about 2 weeks ago (tacho was installed a couple of months ago) and has worked ever since

    yeah, if the light doesnt turn on and the needle doesnt move, it does sound like your earth... check where you have the black wire going to, if in doubt, use a test light or multi meter to see if you have ground there...

    Do you have chrome stips around your windows? if yes .. then try an earth on one of those screws that holds them in, thats what i have mine on atm.

    If you still have no luck try a 12v in the fuse box rather then the battery.

    ps, best connection is solderniod or the butt connection things, followed by tape.

    if u have a voltmeter or test light, put that across ur black and red wire coming from the car, it should light up, if not u have a problem with 1 of them

    find an earth that u know works on another item in the car and hook up to there or close to it. If the surface is painted u won't get a good earth, so make sure u earth it somewhere that's not painted or thick metal and a good screw.

    Hope this helps.
