Hard to figure out what is in the photo, but you'll probably need access to a bearing puller. Wasn't there a nut on the end of it? What pulley is it?

It looks like a timing cover but looks weird. Get a bearing puller.

    And it's PULLEY not PULLY.

Ok its the harmonic balencer your talking about, you need a harmonic balencer pully to get it off the end of the crank shaft.

They are a friction fit, spray a pit of inox in the centre the day before you try pulling it off it will help it come off more easy.

    cheers

get a gear/balancer puller, about $15 from supercheap, you place the three bolts in the three threaded holes in the balancer pulley and the threaded centre bolt that locates into the centre of the pulley needs to be tightened to pull the balancer off...

if you had trouble workin that out, wait till you get to the two philips head screws that hold the cam retaining plate in, you'll need an impact driver to remove them, if you snap em then it'll be fun and games with a bolt extractor. I recommend getting a can of liquid spanner and give them a squirt every 4-5 hours and another squirt before leaving it overnight before any attempt at removing them.

as for the rest of it, just follow your nose, oil pump + dizzy have to come off and lifters removed before you can slide the cam out... good luck, theyre a good motor to learn on....

I can't believe it took 8 posts before someone was even able to identify it as a harmonic balancer!

    This is a worry :|

Neither can I Just a tip guys when you install a harmonic balencer on a 202 best to always use a new one dont reuse a second hand one.
Also I usually bash them onto the crank using a brass hammer it saves damaging the balencer & crank.

Also DO NOT WELD it on you will root the crank.

    cheers

Yeah true. I see what you mean. I must be smoking or drinking too much. I see again now that it's obviously a balancer, but without the bottom pulley! Strange how it doesn't have a nut on it though. My 253 & 308 balancer has a nut on it.

The 202 Balencers dont have a nut or bolt unclip their V8 counterparts. The 202 balencer is a friction fit and is a prick of a thing

    cheers

    Thanks mate

It's no wonder I thought it was weird seeing that I only have V8 motors here. I knew it was a timing cover but I couldn't figure it out because it had no nut on the harmonic balancer.

Maybe I wasn't smoking too much after all. Just never seen one

Oh yes, sorry V8's have a bolt, not a nut on the balancer. About an inch long from memory.
