VK Power Steering Rack stuffed

We had sum new Bridgestone Turanzas put on her Berlina 2 mnths back.When they gave it a Wheel Alignement the lad told me the Steering Rack was buggered.After a few fone calls around & hearing sum horrific prices coming back ova the fone I decided to rebuild my old P/S rack from my old donor car as it had P/S aswell.I drilled out the Lock Pin wif a 1/8 drill carefully not to drill too far.I needed help from my Father in Law as it's a 2 man job.1 to hold it, the other to undo.He come down with sum massive pipe spanners & undid them while I stood on the Rack.New Rack ends are $29 each from Sprint Auto here in Adelaide.I already have the new boots & Tie rod ends.The non P/S rack ends are cheaper but diffrent sumhow.Hope they help somebody doing up their own Rack as I had no idea how they came apart meself...

I need a new rack to, I havn't got power steering tho. I've had mine checked out my a few people and they rekon I'll actually need another one coz it's worn down on the inside (they're only guessing tho coz it doesn't seem to be anything else)....like worn the metal away.

It was like it when I bought the VH like 2 and a half years ago...I was told it is nothing major right now......2 and half years l8r and its still holding up lol.

I might do the same as u and rebuild my spare rack.
