Default geting rid of that rust

hey i am in the process of doing up a vh commodore and have came across a few rust holes. 1: is in the little metal pannel that runs along the side of the car under the doors, the other 1 is above the wheel arch and the 3rd one is in the door where the window goes up and has eaten through.

i was wondering on any tips, help, sites with instructions, ect

it would be a great help and muchlt aprechiated...

    Thanks james

Well there are a number of ways to combat rust. 1 would be to replace all the replaceable panels that are affected by the rust.

For the ares that cannot be replaced, you could cut out the section with an oxy torch and weld in a replacement piece of metal to fill the hole. But this requires skill and patience.

Another way would be to grind out/sand back the smaller areas, and bog over it, but it's not as strong, and there is a chance of the bog cracking and falling out over time.

These are the only options I can think of at the moment, but if i think of any more, I'll post them up!

cutting sections out with oxy torch?. thats a tad hardcore!. Usually a small angle grinder will be best.
Anyway, the section below the doors, the Sill Panels, you can either get the rust cut out or a whole new sill panel section.
The wheel arch area, well if its the front, a new guard. But rear well it can be cut out and replaced, but its tricky.
Rust in the door area, replace the door.

    Oxy torches are more fun....

I've only ever seen it done for the lower quarter panel, and a rather large area. say 3 inches x 10 inches.....
