Im hunting down a VK commodore to turn into my own Group C 'big banger' replica, and had the thought of some how adding the big flairs as seen on the Day Glo orange '84 VK's, use VC HDT one.
Now ive been snooping around the forum and have seen a few people talk of seeing the flairs incorperated into the kit, or have infact tryed themselves. I figure a fair bit of fibreglass work would be needed to get the flares to look right, of course the other idea would be to have a VC HDT front end on a VK, making it easier to fit the flairs....
any ideas??
You can but the proper VK Day glo flairs from HDT. The VC ones aren't big enough, also wouldn't look right on the VK.

A lucky owner of 2 SL/E Commodores, a rare VB SL/E and a 2 tone VC SL/E. Just need a VH SL/E and have the set!
so HDT infact make a set of flares as seen on the VK Day Glo Orange Race car which are availiable to purchase and fit on the road car?
Yep. Although they won't be 100% the same, they are close to them, which matters. Head over to Brockcommodores.com and search it up.

hahaha was just reading that one myself!
Mate, its not that hard. I am currently doing 2 VK's and a VL of my own. I have a genuine MHDT body kit for both of my VK's and they are way bigger and different looking than the earlier kit. I am not sure what SL/ENUT means by "they are not the same but close". Either its a MHDT Group C kit or its not!
The genuine kits are available no problem. Have a look at my threads and you will see one of my cars with the flares etc fitted prior to paint.
These flares are massive and fitting them is the least of your problems with doing a replica.
Wheels and tyres alone to fill them out have run out at $8000 for mine, The fuel filler needs relocating and re-routing to the tank.
The F & R guards and rear doors need cutting to clear the tyres which stick out way past the original bodywork.
Check out Velocity Auto for the genuine kit.
