will a entire diff assembely from a vk commodore sedan bolt staight into a vh slx wagon

nope.
Wagon has a slightly wider wheel track, suspension mountings are different.

is there any way to fit the sedan diff in the wagon any alterrations i can do?

yeah I suppose you could modify the diff but not much point the cost/time to do it would be huge.
If you diff is buggered the internals out of a sedan diff will bolt into a wagon, except axels of course.

really your better off finding a wagon diff.

I only just completed a swap from a 6 cylinder wagon diff to a V8 salisbury disc sedan rear 2 days ago. All I did to make it fit was grind the sedan shocker mounts off, clean the excess welds to neaten it up and after using the angle grinder with a cutting wheel, removed the wagon shock absorber brackets, then transferred them over, all from the cost of a cutting wheel. You could do it alot easier with a little cutting wheel on a die grinder tho'., easy. Everything else bolts straight up...
