doesn't the vk use a cable clutch ?
if you rest your foot on the clutch enough till it just takes up does it make a noise then .... has it been making the noise since it was installed or just recently started to make the noise ?

rubbing sound is a bit vague.. but could be anything from pedal being too dry, to loose clutch plates. Try to locate where the sound is coming from, inside/outside and go from there.
seems to only make noise every so often when i take off releasing clutch i think i might be the cylinder that goes into wall

VB-VK use cable, the VL uses hydraulic clutch, then VN-Series II VS use cable. I think late VS's use a getrag gearbox which uses a hydraulic clutch
