I might have a wiring problem in my steering column and the key barrel is worn. The furthest I have gone with the column is steering wheel off, indicator stalk and assembly out and the spring thing and upper bearing. How on earth do you get the barrel out? At the moment the steering wheel locking mech doesn't work. Is there a part to fix this?

from memory, the barrells are normally installed with a bolt that they do up so tight that the head snaps off, so you therolitically have an irimovable bolt...
the best way i have found, is to get a screwdriver, and mark a slot on the top of that bolt, with a hammer, so you can unscrew that bolt. if you can get a drill in there, drill through the bolt, and this should loosen it....
i dunno if this is going ot help you at all..
Have a good one

If it is the key barrel you are trying to remove, there is a thin slot that you poke a flat bladed screwdriver through and remove the barrel.
Sometimes the slot is covered in a thin layer of metal that you can break away.
It should tell you that in a service manual.
