Default Just out of curiosity - SL/E and SL/X

Whats high up in the luxury ranks? The SL/E or the SL/X. What did the SL/E have, that the SL/X didn't, or vice versa?

Just something I've been wondering aobut for the past few days.

yes SL/E is the highest in luxury. Yes SL/E came out with the above but other goodies they got is luxury velour or leather trim, SL/X didn't, option of a 5 litre motor, SL/X never did, flash crome trimming, some SL/X did but not as flash as a SL/E, i could go on forever with the better of the two.
When you think of it, the SL/X is the same spec as the VB/VC SL models, mid spec.

    VB/C Luxury levels went L, SL, SL/E
With VH, the "L" was superseded by SL and the luxury chain went SL, SL/X, SL/E
The VK changed things again with SL, Executive (AFAIK these two were essentially the same thing), Berlina, Calais which stayed till the VR which added the Acclaim inbetween the Exec and Berlina.

The VE have changed things again but that is well documented.

VB range was Commodore, Commodore SL and Commodore SL/E.
The VC range has L as the base model.

    I've seen oldschool Astra's that are SL/X's

I Think the Camira had SL/X at some stage.

Yeah, I've seen some other holden models that use the same 'codes' . But I meant just within the commodore range.

We had a SL/X VH from new and had it for almost 20 years so I know allllllll about it. It had a completely different and posher interior trim than the SL, very sexy in green too. It had the normal steering wheel like the SL not the freaky one spoker like the SL/E got. Ours was a manual 202 but the 202 was an option, it had a vaccum gauge as standard. Ummmm it had a radio and a clock and nice pin stripes and different hubcaps. Thats about it!, almost all the difference was the interior trim. The SL/E has all kindsa of fancy stuff. Trip computer, Power steeing, cruise control, tacho, I guess a tape player as standard, power windows all round, fancy light in the roof, extra insulation bits, posher carpet, posher looking and feeling but less sexy looking seats, Automagic slushbox, 5 Alloy wheels. The SL/X was a better car in my opinion, went faster and had less usless bits to break .

Astra's don't deserve SL/X badging, it's too good for them

Seriously though - SL/E's have always had features inside and out to distinguish them from other models..

(Just the VB for example: )
    - Black door frames and tail panel
    - Blacked out grill
    - Burr walnut dash
    - Chrome exhaust
    - Extended rear bumpers
    - Electric aerial
    - Headlight wiper/washers
    - Reading lights
    - Velour trim and cut pile carpet
    - 15x6 inch alloy wheels
    Optional:
    - 5.0 L 114 kW Red V8
    - Central locking

    Information from Wiki.
