What is required to get the details on the rego changed over from auto to manual?
I'm looking to do a conversion and would like to know
If ur in QLD you don't need to worry bout it, not sure bout other states.
In NSW the transmission type is not included in the registration details, I doubt wether they are in Vic either. Have a look on your rego papers and see if it states the transmission type. If it does I would guess you would just have to go into the motor registry and notify them.
In western australia you will have to take it over the pits to get the license paper changed.. or just wing it and u wont get caught
in sa you dont need to tell them
We got rep back, yaaay!
yeah... i'm in Vic tho, hmmm hopefully not make it easier later on
I don't think you have to tell vicroads but I think they like to know. You will need to tell your insurance company though. Hope your putting in a 5spd box![]()
I changed my VB from auto to manual & as long as the box you are putting in is an option for your model car then u just ring them like I did & thats all that's required. If you are putting in a box that wasn't an option then Vicroads say you need an engineer's report.
Vb's never came out with the 5 speed box. Eventhough they slip straight in with no modifications or anything to cut/fabricate etc. You still require an engineers report according to Vicroads.
Same goes for your insurance.
If you have a VC onwards you have no problems - just ring them to notify them of the changes.
I just put the Assie 4speed in & it goes great.
Biggest pain in the butt job was to change the pedalboxes over. everything else was straightforward.
You'll need to change ur diff ratio too.

can i just say it is a 5spd to VicRoads and that will just be it?
