Hi, I was wondering if anyone has tried this. I have a one piece tailshaft out of a TE Cortina and it is 1cm shorter than the two piece from my VK. There is supposed to be slight hp gains with the one piece so I might give it a try. Any thoughts?
Cheers, Big Al
Are you planning to have your VK lowered? if so, no good, the one piece tailshaft will hit the floor. IMO i wouldn't do it, i can't see any gain really.

A lucky owner of 2 SL/E Commodores, a rare VB SL/E and a 2 tone VC SL/E. Just need a VH SL/E and have the set!
You won't gain any noticable power, its a big deal to do and I think that the VK/VL driveshaft tunnel isn't quite straight. (Something I heard, don't know if its true).
If this is the case, it may hit the body as it spins.

You also need a tailshaft loop by memory. (Safety only)
The only real advantage is strength, a bloke in my street got a one-peice tailshaft for his RB30et skyline wagon purely because of the amount of torque it produces, the more joins in the driveline, the more places to break. It still had troubles cracking wheelnuts
Also unless you have an engineers certificate what you wanna do would make the car unroadworthy.
They hit the floor and whats the point ?? more hassel than its worth.
as everyone else has said, dont bother. if you are worried about strength just upgrade to bigger yoke/unis, if you're after hp gains, there isnt any.
also does the cortina one have the same yokes/unis on it? are they the same spline etc etc? also one centimetre can/may affect the driveline anlges which can/may cause vibrations, might not seem like much but can have an affect![]()
