Central Locking

Hi all

I am wanting to put a central locking kit into my commodore, The thing is i tryed once before to put one in i got it from super cheap and had all sorts of trouble with it.

Thge trouble i had was it worked fine till you went to unlock the door all but the drivers door would unlock and it jamed the front doors and i had to distory the front door cards to get it open.

Can anyone recomend a central looking kit for a VH commodore i have fond some on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com.au/central-locki...QQcmdZViewItem I would like to know if this will work on the blue bitch

Ever heard the saying you get what you pay for?? $9.99 central locking kit, run mate run away from it.

I would buy a decent kit from a proper car audio/alarms etc place you might pay $60 but the quality is much better.

Secondly it will only work as well as you install it. I suggest mounting it like I mounted mine. Mount the actuators in similar positions to the factory setups. It will require making up some link bars etc I can post photos of my setup if required.

I was not going to buy the one on ebay i would buy a half decent kit to do the job have been doing a bit of a search around for a good kit

try jaycar they have some decent stuff there and i brought my central locking from there so yeah as long as you set it up right it should all go as planned

Ok heres some pics

To make up the link arms you can use a metal coat hanger, just remember all the links should be really loose and sloppy dont have them too firm or it wont work.

The other issue I had on the front doors you need to reverse polarity the wires on the actuators. This is because using the pivots reverses the motion of actuator. So locked is unlocked and unlocked is locked.

If ya need some more pics let us know....Brad bought a $40 kit from Strathfield and chucked it in PEAKN6 and took a few pics. The 2 front actuators are visable tho, but the rears look like VKBerlina's pics.....but Brad had to get the angle grinder onto the doors to chop a small peice out. :P
