Where can i get a 202 rebuilt?

Gday guys,

As some may know i've got the original 173 and 5 speed in my vh, looking to upgrade to a 202, i've sourced a motor and full rebuild kit including o/s piston, rings, bearings, gasket kit etc. I need to find a place somewhere in Vic that can do it for me, preferably with experience in old holden 6's...Anyone know of anywhere decent? Or has done it/ had it done themselves?

It's easy as, last year I rebuilt a 202 and it's damn easy. If you know your way around engines it's a piece of cake. Helps though if you have a workshop manual for your car.

Were abouts in vic ? most engine shops will know there way around a 202 like the back of there hand.

i remember there was a place in 8/51 bennet st dandenong years ago called the quick 6 warehouse dont know if there still open though it was a few years back when i was last in dandenong hope this is a help and good luck with the rebuild

thanks mate, i'll look into that, even if someone knows where i can get my block machined, i.e bored out to fit oversize pistons and tested etc. ???

Hey mate I've also got a 173 5 spd combo.....does urs have a high compression head on it? If it does and ya don't want it, PM me with a price! As I'm rebuilding my 173 (taking it out to a 186) I chucked my head on our burnout car and we need one for that when I need mine back.

how do i know if i have a high compression head? I thought they were all the same on the 173's..

Dandenong rebores does all that stuff, ie reboring

Not sure if they're all the same. We have my 173, spare 202 in the shed, 202 in the SKiDWAGON (VH), and an EFI 202 in PEAKN6 (VK)...and only my 173 has a high compression head.

To see if urs has a high compression head, look above the first intake port on the head (closest to the front of the head), and above it should either have 'L' or 'H', for either high or low compression.

Here's a pic of my head, I put a red circle where it should have the 'H' or 'L'.
