Hey all sorry if this has been in another previous thread i havnt been on here in a while. I have a vc commodore that im getting rid of, it has GU7 stamped on the plate instead of the GU4 stamped on my vk. What is the diffrence between the GU4 and the GU7 diff, is it worth changing over in2 my vk?
Any comments would be much appreciated thanx guys
cheers vks
GU4 means its a 3.08:1 diff ratio. GU7 is a 2.78:1 ratio. Putting in a 2.78 diff might good for fuel economy, it will make the car a pig to move off say traffic lights. IMO i would leave the 3.08 diff in the VK

i got a 4 speed m20 its not bad in accel. I might just keep the 3.08 thanks for your comments guys much appreciated.
cheers vks
Well it depends on what the owner wants really. If its a manual tranny car, 3.08 or bigger is the go. If you want great pick up off the lights, again 3.08 or bigger is better. But if you worry about the fuel gauge chasing the speedo, 3.08 or lower is what you want. The lowest you can go with 6 banger Salisbury diffs is 2.78. The 10 bolt 5 litre diffs, lowest is 2.60.
