Hello, i am new to this Forum, however i have a VC 308, heavily modified, however i had a alot of trouble trying to get it on the road. i had done an engine transplant from 6 auto - v8 man, roadworhty was passed however ran into some trouble with vic roads.
vic roads wants a Engineers report.
so the rung around begun, after ringing numerouse engineers they have given me the run around, IE: $1200 for the engineers, or get a report from holden on the originial specs and etc... on the car and types of engines it had came out with.
rung up holden and dealerships, soundin like an idiot, got nowhere, and 1 person claimed he never heard of a VC commodore.
i understand the fact that i need an engineers report, IE: brakes and suspension. i have been report to the OMVTS (organised motor vehicle theft squad) and was all cleared, some #@$%head at vic roads said my engine number was false.
vic roads will not let me have my car on the road until i produce a engineer's report.
If anyone has come accross this situation or has any advice can you please help me, or point me into the write direction so i can get the ball rolling.

Well what is the engine number prefix, IE is it VT4***** or QT4****?.

A lucky owner of 2 SL/E Commodores, a rare VB SL/E and a 2 tone VC SL/E. Just need a VH SL/E and have the set!

sounds like they're being wankers, its not like your trying to put a chev in it. I would think a RWC would be enough for such an upgrade?
If the 308 you put in is a red motor then you will have to prove that it can pass emissions test. The VC had a blue motor with tougher emission standards. V8 commodores had a one inch bore in the brake master cylinder to give a firmer pedal than the 6cyl which had 15/16 bore. Not sure about the front sway bar but i think the V8 could be thicker also.
sorry guys, went to phillip island for the V8's just got back.
the front end springs, bushes etc.... are all new, aswell as tie rod ends and ball joints. the whole brake system has v8 calipers, and booster v8, also master cylinder is 1inch. with the emission standards i can have the red red motor in it, as long as it reatins the minimal basic setup for emmision requirements, motor is from same era.
with the engine number the stamping where uneven, which landed me in this trouble in the first place, i had that checked out way back with the OMVTS, they had i dentified it with a 6cyl body shell and reqwuired for me to get a engineers.
but that raises the question y?? all has passed r/w tests
apart from being on hold with the, useless, vic roads, they check and check and check...... then after 1 1/2 hrs later, you need a engineers cert..
