    Default VC questions again!

    Hey All

1# i dont want to overload my coil with my headunit, i have 1 wire going to battery and other to the 12v system, for some reason im thinking it might be connected with the iginition. is the last turn "where u push the key fwd to fire up" the iginition? or is the lastclick when all the lights turn on etc the iginiton?

2# blue vision 12v60/55w "110/100w H4 12342 BV DB " H4 with W5W <-- would these globes fit in my headlights? i found them in a shed, there from a pajero, but never got installed.

    3 # Caltex Muilitigrade SAE 20w-50 API SG/CD any goodfor my ride? says 1980 - 1993 pertrol/diesel

4# if I drained my oil out and flushed the motor with diesel fuel + 2 motor rotations by hand, would this contaminate my internal parts? i have good reason, just dont want to contaminate.

    Cheers

    1. I don't quite knoq what you mean. Usually turn back the ingition for accessories and the stereo should work.
    2. No they won't fit, only fit Pajeros. Also be very carefull, as some cops hate these lights, some will deem these illegal.
    3. Don't know about Caltex oils, never had good running with it. But if it says its good for petrol motors from 1980-1993, then try it out. Don't use synthetic oil, not good for older motors.
    4. This is a big no no, diesel fuel will stuff it. Best thing to do is, ru the motor until its warm-hot then drain the oil. I have been told its better if you leave it to drain over night.

    Default Q/2

    Weekends progress

Well today i did some good things to my baby which included.

Service the gearbox, i replaced it with a kit, but didint get a chance to tighten the servo band as i don't how thew wrench yet, but that didnt matter!! - No more clunks, smoother changing gears + better throttle responce etc. So my diffs all good and changing the uni joints in the driveline will be a brezze.

I thought i needed the wheel alignment until i alined the front wheels myself and now i have no problems, i can make her go straight at 80k on the crapest of roads! the greg's book helps!

I'm about to do some more wiring, replacing old wires , what fun

    ## QUESTION!!! Would having my ride to far advance make her run, when switched off? i think its at 9-8 atm, cant really tell until its darker.. silly light!
It's not retarted, i'm just retracing my steps on the mods me and my mate done when i was away.

Do u mean when it keeps firing after u switch the ignition off? I'm pretty sure when that happens to cars most of the time it's a timing related issue.

    1. First of all you won't overload your coil by using the battery with a stereo or whatever. If you have an electronic coil, they must have 12 minimum at them or you will have spark problems. If your coil is the original one, anywhere from 11-14v is ok. I would run a seperate battery wire to your head unit. Using the existing wiring for your head unit I have found to be a problem.
When you turn your key to where the dash lights come on, your ignition system is on and ready for action. Your coil is also energised. When you turn the key to start, it engages the starter motor solenoid.

    2. Don't use anything higher than 55/60W globes unless you add relays to your headlight wiring.

    3. That oil would be ok as long as your motor is in alright condition. If it's old oil even if it's unopened, dispose of it.

    4. Worry about giving the motor guts a degrease when you consider doing a full rebuild.

My tip about wiring as always is use a soldering iron and heatshrink tubing. Avoid ugly electrical tape. Use cable ties if needed.
