    Default Electric aerial wont work...

    Hi all,

a mate installed a cd player and new speakers for me and when we tried to get the aerial to work, it wouldnt. it worked with the holden tape player in it.

i talked to another guy and he reckons that when we pulled the wiring out to connect it to the cd player (we had like 3/4 of the dash out to do it) we may have pulled it out at the aerial itself...? but then i talked to my mate and he reckoned the wiring goes to somewhere just above the EST control unit?

it was weird as my mate used a lamp to test the circuit but the aerial just wouldnt go up?

Has anyone had any problems with their aerials?

    cheers

    Kurt

EST Module in the Pass kick panel. You've most probly disconnected it at the stereo plug loom itself.Have another goose at your wiring. If the head set is a good 1 it should have an arial control wire on it to connect it to.I'll have a check of the Bible(The Gregory's) & see wat colour the arial control wire is.Pink comes to mind but i'll check...

Have a look on my site I have wiring diagrams for the stereo, you need to connect the remote (of on a decent stereo the electric aerial wire) up to the yellow wire going into the electric aerial relay box.

    cheers

yes the SL/Es had an electric aerial, same setup VB-VS that I know of prob even later than that as well. Basically its a semi-automatic aerial it goes up a little way then controlled by a switch.

have you got the factory or after market stereo fitted??

If you have an aftermarket headunit and the aerial is all factory connect your remote or power aerial wire from the head unit to the yellow wire on the cars stereo plug (Not the head units yellow wire)
Otherwise at the antenna module it will be the brown wire.

    cheers
