Hi all
We have a vb. We are trying to convert to powersteering. We got the rack and pump from a VH but when we tried to mount the knuckles between the steering colomn and the rack it was about 2 inches too short.
We pulled the colomn out to have a look but now after trying to adjust it we knackered it totally
Does the powersteering use a different colomn to a manual steer or do I need the colomn from the VH aswell?
It seemed that our colomn needed to be and inch or 2 longer through the firewall to reach the rack
Any help would be great as now we cant even drive it.
they are diffreant you can take the lower half of the steering column off above the pedals.....its in a prick of a spot but if you have the rack out its easy. if they are the same as vl with power steer if the column is the same i can sell u 1 for $25.00+postage
Thanks bud ya saved me alot of heart ache...
Vl intermediate shaft is to long.i TRIED THAT ONE MYSELF. You will need a vh power steering intermediate shaft. I went through all what you are going through with my Vh 6 cyl about a year ago.Took a while to get all the bits. You will have fun getting the right sized fan belts. I have Air con as well and run three belts. With a sports steering wheel it makes it a lot easier to steer.
