Gudday
I am just about to remove the blue 202 out of my vc commodore and put it into my lj torana. I was having a look at the motor the other day and noticed it has a varajet carby on it but i cannot see any other numbers or id's so that i can work out what model of varajet it is. I believe the motor is stock and has the vin starting with vl.
If anyone has any models numbers of id's for the varajet that came standard on the blue 202 i would be grateful. Also any information on how to tune and clean this type of carb would be great.
Cheers
Dono mate thought they were all the same?
cheers mate
do you know what they are as in 2SE and E2SE? i have got a stack of info on both of these carbies but am not 100% sure which would have come stock on the blue 202.
Thanks for your advice mate.
i think the varajet 2 was standard on all vc/vh/vk and wb 6 cylinders as for information on how to tune go and buy your self a vc commodore service & repair manual i have a gregorys and it tells you every thing you want to know and more even though your putting the engine in a torana the manual will be a great help just for trouble shooting the running gear(and goon i do hope the carby is a bit cleaner now lolthats bad)
cheers for your help with this.
i just had a look on ebay and there is a 6cyl vc service and repair manual for 10 bucks so im gonna grab that.
any advice on a good sports filter for the varajet2? and with a sports filter what do you do with the crinkled hose that runs from the exhaust manifold into the long snout of the standard air intake?
im not looking for a great increase in power but after reeading the 202 guide from street machine it seems like a reasonable idea.

If i was to get any air filter mate, id try and hun t down a 2.85 air filter as there nose is wider and if u can mod your way around "due to the vc not having a hole" u can install the CAI hose
That hose coming from your exhasut to your air filter is a pre heat hose, nothing special. i never had one of mine when i brought my baby, but i added extractors down the track and didnt have to worry about that.
Those chrome sports cleaners are more likely going to suck in hot air.
CAI for 202 carby? <- pre topic about CAI
Hey mate best idea for a 'sports' air cleaner for a varajet is to use the standard air cleaner bottom plate, and then use say a speco 9" chrome air filter, the bottom is a little bigger then the speco top, but still doesn't look to bad. Not many sports air filters are around for varajets, so just use the bottom of the stock one and just use the top from an aftermarket one.
On the SKiDWAGON, we bought a speco 9" chrome air filter, with an extra 2 air cleaners, then got the welder out to make a longer bolt, and we have it 3 air cleaners high.....just enuf to poke its head out of the bonnet.
Here's a pic:
*When Brad measured up and cut the hole for it, an engine mount was stuffed, then when we replaced it the motor was moved over a fraction as it was now sitting right....so thats why the hole aint perfect centred haha*
