G'day. I'm not too familiar with engines. (Clueless) I've had a dream to build/ rebuild my VH. I've got every comfort and cosmetic pieces of this beast organised, planned, priced and ready to build, buy or modify. But I'm gonna need some power to run it. I'm not exactly all that fond of our aussie cops (hate em) so i'm kinda wanting to stay as legal as i can. Can someone give me some idea of the legalities of engine transplants. I'm looking at 2 wrecks at the moment, a vt ss and a vs clubsport and if i get either of them, then i can modify from there. Engine appears to be good in the ss. Haven't looked to close yet as i don't know if it'll be legal yet. the clubby was rear ended and the engines fine.
Please help as queensland transport don't seem to even know what an engine is.![]()
As goon said all you need is an engineers cert. Mine is costing me around $300 for my VK with a VS Cubsport EFI 5L in..
Its main reasons for needing a certificate is for emissions reasons, you will need an unleaded filler neck although you cant buy leaded fuel, run a cat in your exhaust and thats about it. They shouldnt need to test for DB out of the exhaust or emmissions breakdown on your exhaust either.
Your best to find an auto engineer in your local area and have a chat to hima nd find out exactly what he requires before you undertake the project.
cheers
Scott
Loads of VB-VK information, All you need to know about EFI 5L Conversions Ultimate EFI 5L Conversion resource "
Wanted B Cast Heads PM for details
im also in the same boat guys was wondering if anyone on the forums has done an ls1 conversion into a vh? what would be involved and would it be worth the trouble?
if so i will try for it but if it aint worth the trouble maybe just an injected 355?
There are 2 types of pedestrians, the quick and the dead.
The VT motor is way too electrical to put into the vh too much time effort and money, engineers cert alone will costyou an arm and a leg....
